Cornerstone’s Founder and CEO has had the privilege of helping clients pursue their financial goals for 30 years.

Growing up on a farm near Huron, South Dakota, Gordon learned about integrity, hard work and discipline from his Dad, who always said that vacations were for city slickers and bankers. After high school, he went to basic training with the Army and attended South Dakota State University, earning a degree in mechanized agriculture with a minor in agronomy. During college, Gordon went through officer candidate school and stayed connected to the farming community by running a custom hay bailing business on the weekends.

After his father passed away in 1989, Gordon—newly-married and recently graduated—moved back to the farm to run the operation, handle the estate, and help his mother get back on her feet. Those were tough years for farming and, after about three years, a family friend urged Gordon to begin working with an insurance company. He’d learned the importance of having a comprehensive financial plan while helping his mom, and he quickly realized that insurance was just one piece of the financial security puzzle. Knowing that he could serve his clients better with a broader range of tools and education he put his head down & got to work learning everything he could. He soon obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificate, and later earned a master’s degree in financial planning. He’s been successfully helping people pursue their financial goals ever since.
